General Summary & Scope

The Seasonal Beauty Advisor (BA) is responsible for providing an exceptional experience for all Ulta Beauty guests by engaging each guest to determine their individual needs, conducting cashier tasks, keeping fixtures stocked with merchandise, maintaining overall store cleanliness, and completing tasks as assigned. The Seasonal Beauty Advisor supports the leadership team through a focus on performance (service/retail sales and in-store events), people (guest service), and process (operating procedures and compliance standards). This position requires a passion for the beauty industry, exceptional guest service, and the aptitude to learn and communicate product knowledge.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Contribute to meeting or exceeding the store’s goals related to retail and service sales, guest loyalty (including credit), omni-channel sales, and retail shrink as set by Ulta Beauty for the store.
  • Ensure that each guest receives exceptional service by providing a guest-friendly environment, greeting and engaging each guest entering the store, personalizing service to their needs, answering questions about products and services, informing guests about promotions and sales, and recommending complementary Ulta Beauty products and/or services.
  • Handle customer service, sales, refunds, and exchanges courteously and assist with online orders.
  • Perform makeup applications, skincare analysis, and product demonstrations with guests to drive sales and enhance the guest service experience.
  • Book appointments and support the execution of services and in-store events that deliver an exceptional guest experience while meeting sales goals.
  • Stay informed about new and existing products and services, understanding their ingredients and benefits to better serve guests.
  • Maintain prompt, regular attendance.

People

  • Contribute to an inclusive environment supporting teammates, peers, and guests.
  • Share the benefits of the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app, with guests and through Ulta’s systems.
  • Collaborate with managers and associates to grow the business.
  • Participate in ongoing training for professional development and to boost sales performance.

Process

  • Ensure compliance with Ulta Beauty’s policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Adhere to the dress code.
  • Maintain replenished, signed, and faced work areas, ensuring testers are available.
  • Keep store standards high and store clean, including salesfloor, restrooms, cashwrap, backroom, and break area.
  • Assist with merchandise resets, planograms, marketing displays, inventory, and shipment processing using Ulta’s technology and best practices.
  • Follow loss prevention practices to protect assets and provide excellent guest service.
  • Perform other operational tasks as directed.

Job Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma preferred.

Experience

  • 1 year of relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.

Skills

  • Passion for guest service and sales competency.
  • Proficient with basic technology (e.g., POS system, Apple devices).
  • Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Special Position Requirements

  • Flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Working Conditions

  • Mobility throughout the store during shifts.
  • Frequent standing, bending, pulling, pushing, reaching, and twisting.
  • Handling objects up to 25 lbs. regularly.
  • Continuous coordination and manipulation of objects.
