General Summary & Scope

The Specialty Beauty Advisor - Clinique (SBA - Clinique) is responsible for maximizing sales in the Clinique brand (including color cosmetics, skincare, and fragrance) by engaging guests to determine their needs, assisting in product selection and purchase, and maintaining store standards. They represent the image, products, and culture of Ulta Beauty and the Clinique brand, supporting the Experience Manager through a focus on performance, people, and process. This role requires a passion for beauty, exceptional guest service, and the ability to learn and communicate product knowledge.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

The SBA - Clinique demonstrates Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values by performing the following duties:

  1. Performance
  • Meet or exceed Clinique sales and clientele goals, contributing to store targets related to retail, service sales, guest loyalty, omni-channel, and shrink.
  • Provide exceptional service by greeting guests, personalizing service, offering samples, and recommending products.
  • Perform makeup applications, skincare analysis, and product demonstrations.
  • Book appointments and support in-store events to deliver an outstanding guest experience and meet sales goals.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships and actively contact a growing customer base.
  • Inform guests of current promotions, events, and services.
  • Stay informed about new and existing products and services, understanding their ingredients and benefits.
  • Maintain regular attendance.
  • People
    • Contribute to an inclusive environment supporting teammates and guests.
    • Share information about the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app.
    • Maintain relationships with Clinique brand partners through training and events.
    • Collaborate with store management and staff to grow the business.
    • Participate in ongoing training for professional development and sales performance.
  • Process
    • Adhere to Ulta Beauty’s policies, procedures, and standards.
    • Follow dress code and wear brand assets as directed.
    • Keep work area replenished, signed, and faced; maintain hygiene standards for testers.
    • Ensure store standards are met, including merchandise displays and cleanliness.
    • Assist with merchandise resets, inventory, and shipment processing.
    • Follow loss prevention practices and protect company assets.
    • Perform other operational tasks as assigned.

    Job Qualifications

    Education

    • High school diploma preferred.
    • Cosmetology or demonstrator license required if mandated by law.

    Experience

    • Cosmetics artistry experience preferred.

    Skills

    • Strong competency in sales, product knowledge, and service.
    • Ability to build and maintain customer relationships.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Proactive in handling guest concerns and managing multiple tasks.
    • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

    Special Position Requirements

    • Flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
    • Attend brand-sponsored training sessions.

    Working Conditions

    • Frequent mobility, standing, bending, and reaching during shifts.
    • Ability to lift and move up to 10 lbs. regularly.
    • Continuous coordination and manipulation of objects.
