Job summary

La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club, Inc. in San Diego, CA is seeking a Banquet Setup Houseperson to prepare and restore banquet spaces according to event orders and diagrams, and to ensure rooms meet standards for each function.

You will work closely with the Banquet Captain and team to support smooth event execution, with emphasis on safe handling of equipment and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; previous banquet, hospitality, event setup, hotel or country club experience preferred.
• Ability to read and write simple correspondence; Spanish-speaking ability preferred but not required.
• Physical ability to lift, push, pull, and carry banquet equipment; capable of lifting up to 65 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Set up and break down banquet rooms, meeting spaces, and outdoor event areas.
• Safely move and arrange tables, chairs, staging, dance floors, risers, bars, buffets and other equipment.
• Follow event diagrams and setup instructions accurately.
• Assist with room flips and changes between events.
• Ensure spaces and equipment are clean, organized, and maintained.
• Deliver and retrieve banquet equipment and supplies as needed.
• Assist Banquet Captains and Servers with event-related setup and operations.
• Respond promptly to last-minute changes during events.
• Maintain a safe working environment and proper handling procedures.
• Return spaces to required conditions after each function.
