Thompson Palm Springs Resort is seeking an engaging and hospitality-driven seasonal Banquet Captain (Part-time) to join our team! Our banquet captain will be experienced and the finest of banquet servers. This role leads other associates by coaching, giving direction and may include training and setting up department practices. They are responsible for making the function space visually appealing and presenting the menu offering for the event. This may include linen and table setting, food station design, and beverage service. Other duties include general banquet preparation, room refreshes, and maintaining a sanitary environment.

This is a temporary position anticipated to continue through Memorial Day 2027. The assignment may end earlier or be extended based on business needs and does not create a guarantee of employment for any specific duration.

This is a nonexempt (hourly) role. The budgeted rate for this role is $17.50 plus additional gratuity. This is the hourly rate for this position that Thompson Palm Springs reasonably expects to pay. Decisions regarding individual hourly rates will be based on a number of factors including experience, and education.

Qualifications

• Riverside County’s Food Handler’s Card
• California Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) Certificate
• Must be over the age of 21
• Experience and a thorough understanding of banquet service
• Comfortable with working indoors and outdoors with varying weather conditions
• Previous experience working at a luxury hotel/resort is a plus
• A true desire to satisfy the needs of others in a fast-paced environment
• Refined verbal communication skills
• Must have physical stamina to lift moderate amounts of weight
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays
