Position Overview

The Seasonal Junior Farm Technician supports applied field research and development (R&D). Responsibilities include executing and maintaining field demonstrations, including preparation, planting, cultivation, applications, harvest, and data collection, to validate commercial solutions and showcase Nutrien’s capabilities. This is a seasonal role from April 2025 to mid/end November 2025, with flexibility for shorter employment for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Farm Manager in achieving objectives and implementing innovative agronomic ideas.
• Manage and execute field trials in corn and soybeans.
• Handle field activities: preparation, planting, tillage, applications, harvest, and data analysis.
• Collect in-season data: soil and plant samples, and manage storage and shipment.
• Maintain equipment and facilities according to SOPs, ensuring safety and organization.
• Operate and maintain farm machinery including combines, tractors, sprayers, and landscaping equipment.
• Operate and maintain a company vehicle.
• Adhere to safety protocols and participate in training programs.
• Supervise seasonal farm staff as needed.
• Assist with plot tours, field days, and training events, including setup and cleanup.
• Manage snow removal activities.
• Collaborate with partners on trial designs and demonstrations.
• Support other Innovation Farm sites as required.
• Work additional hours during peak seasons and events.
• Promote a safety-first culture.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Progress towards a degree in agronomy, plant pathology, entomology, weed science, or related field preferred.
• Experience in production farming, agronomy consulting, or experimental management preferred.
• Experience operating farm equipment is a plus.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications preferred.

Compensation & Benefits

Hourly wage ranges from $23.51 to $44.52, based on location and experience. Benefits include paid sick days; other benefits are limited due to the temporary nature of the role. Overtime and compliance with legal pay requirements are provided. The offered salary may vary based on multiple factors.
