Job summary

Stantec is seeking Archaeology Technicians to support field programs across the Midwest, including Minnesota. This hourly, on-call position involves assisting with data collection, artifact identification, and lab tasks, with travel to project sites and occasional airport travel.

You will work under a field director, perform Phase I–III duties, operate GPS and digital cameras, and maintain safety protocols in all weather.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, History, or related field.
• Experience in a CRM setting or field school is required.
• Familiarity with ESRI Field Maps is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of Upper Midwest archaeology and field methods preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct archaeological fieldwork with field crews.
• Identify precontact and historic artifacts; perform soil analysis.
• Work under field director or crew lead in MN and neighboring states.
• Occasional laboratory duties may be available.
• Travel extensively to project sites.
• Prioritize safety in field and lab practices.
• Operate GPS units, cameras, tablets, and hand tools.
• Follow safety protocols for hazardous conditions.
• Participate in tailgate safety meetings and site plans.
• Exercise stop-work authority when unsafe conditions are identified.
