Job summary

Management & Training Corporation (MTC) seeks a Program Manager, Vessel Captain to lead the maritime training program at Tongue Point Job Corps Center in Astoria, OR. You will supervise instructors, administer the training program, and ensure adherence to government and center directives in a safe environment.

You will oversee curriculum development, vessel operations, and credentialing, while mentoring students and coordinating with counselors to support successful outcomes.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills and ability to enforce anti-harassment policies.
• Experience working with young students from diverse backgrounds.
• Master's license and vessel master experience required.

Responsibilities

• Administer all aspects of the training program and supervise staff.
• Oversee Seamanship Program Instructors and ensure compliance with certifications.
• Monitor staff training credentials to maintain program compliance.
• Develop lessons and curricula for Deck or Engineering areas.
• Supervise maintenance and operation of training vessels and equipment.
• Prepare budgets and oversee maintenance schedules.
• Advise on dry dockings and shipyard work.
• Promote safety and equal opportunity policies; support student employability.
