Job summary

Pentangle Tech Services | P5 Group in Michigan seeks an automotive seal design engineer to advance static and dynamic seal designs, finalize profiles per FEA, and develop extrusions and molds for vehicle environments.

You will create layouts, verify using SLA fixtures, maintain assembly structures, and produce detailed drawings for profiles and assemblies, updating designs as needed to meet specifications.

Qualifications

• Experience designing automotive seals (static and dynamic).
• Knowledge of seal assembly and fitment requirements.
• Familiarity with finite element analysis for component validation.
• Experience with extrusion development for automotive environments.
• Experience in mold design and end-trims for extrusion assemblies.
• Ability to create and validate layouts for seal fitment.
• Experience using SLA fixtures for part/mold verification.
• Ability to produce detailed drawings for profiles and assemblies and update designs as needed.

Responsibilities

• Design of static seals: glass run channel, inner belt, outer belt & below belt.
• Design of dynamic seals: primary, secondary, hood seal, decklid and applique.
• Profile finalizing as per FEA results from Cooper for pillar extrusions, inner belt & outer belts.
• Extrusion creation: developing all extrusions according to the vehicle environment following best practices & guidelines.
• End trims / molds: developing molds / endcaps attached to extrusions per requirement (corner molds, cutline molds etc.).
• Layout creation: layout is created to check the fitment of the seal to ensure the requirement is met.
• SLA creation: part / mold fitment is checked using SLA fixtures.
• Creating & maintaining assembly Structure as per Cooper Standard procedure for each seal component.
• Drawing creation: individual drawings are to be made for each profiles and Assemblies and need to keep them updated with each design changes.
