Job summary

Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution is seeking a QMED Oiler to assist engineers with the operation, maintenance, and repair of engine room equipment, and to perform general duties and watchkeeping.

The position requires a U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner's Credential endorsed as a QMED Oiler, a high school diploma or equivalent, and at least one year of sea duty. Candidates should be prepared for extended watch schedules and delivery of essential engine room tasks.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent education and one year sea duty as an Oiler.
• Require a U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner's Credential endorsed as an QMED Oiler.
• Must pass a Pre-employment DOT drug screen and hold an unexpired USCG medical certificate.

Responsibilities

• Assist engineers with operation, maintenance, and repair of engine room equipment and spaces.
• Stand watches and perform general engine room duties.
• Lubricate moving parts of propulsion engines and auxiliary equipment; pump bilges and clean filters and strainers.
