Job summary

ShopRite in Medford, NJ is seeking a Seafood Clerk to manage the seafood department and deliver excellent customer service. You will prepare, package, and display fresh and frozen seafood while maintaining department standards.

The role emphasizes accurate pricing, freshness, safety compliance, and cooperative teamwork to support store goals and customer satisfaction. Training and benefits accompany this position.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, speak, analyze and understand English.
• Able to work with fresh, dried and/or processed seafood and shellfish.
• Able to tolerate dust and chemical agents during housekeeping.
• Able to perform basic math.
• Able to stand/walk for the duration of a shift.
• Able to regularly lift 25 lbs., and occasionally 50 lbs.
• Able to interact with customers in a friendly and helpful way.
• Able to work cooperatively and follow schedules and policies.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and provide prompt, courteous service.
• Follow approved procedures for receiving, code-dating, preparing, storing, price-marking, scaling and restocking.
• Differentiate between seafood varieties and advise on preparation and pricing.
• Contribute to freshness and quality control.
• Check refrigeration equipment and report failures.
• Maintain a clean, neat, and safe work environment.
• Operate department equipment per QA standards and safety rules.
• Adhere to safety, sanitation and regulatory requirements.
