Job summary

Textron Systems is seeking a 2027 Intern - Mechanical Engineer (Sea Systems) in Hunt Valley, MD. You will join a multidisciplinary team to develop mechanical designs and support tests across sea-system projects.

Responsibilities include detailed mechanical design, CAD modeling in SolidWorks/AutoCAD, and producing formal documentation. A bachelor’s or master’s in mechanical/electro‑mechanical engineering is expected, with familiarity in ASME drawing standards and security‑clearance readiness.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in mechanical or electro-mechanical engineering or related field.
• Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Visio).
• Familiarity with CAD tools; SolidWorks and AutoCAD preferred; MagicDraw and Jira a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform hardware engineering activities within a team of mechanical, electrical, and software engineers.
• Develop thorough, practical solutions to mechanical engineering problems.
• Contribute to cross-functional design teams including prototyping, production, and test support.
• Design mechanical structures and subsystems using solid modeling, analysis, drafting, and tolerance analysis.
• Prepare engineering documentation such as drawings, specs, design presentations, test plans, and reports.
• Support proposals with cost estimates and risk assessments.
• Present design considerations and program status to peers and management.
• Prepare and manage design change documentation.
