Job summary

Textron Systems in Hunt Valley, MD seeks a 2027 Intern – Mechanical Enginer (Sea Systems) to join a multidisciplinary team on real projects. You will perform hardware engineering activities, develop imaginative solutions, and contribute to concept development alongside prototyping, production and test support.

The role requires pursuing a bachelor’s/master’s in mechanical or electro‑mechanical engineering, with SolidWorks/AutoCAD, Jira familiarity, and strong MS Office skills.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in mechanical engineering, electro‑mechanical engineering, or a related field.
• Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Visio).
• Familiarity with CAD tools requested; SolidWorks and AutoCAD preferred; Jira a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform hardware engineering activities within a team of mechanical, electrical, and software engineers.
• Develop imaginative, thorough, practicable technical solutions to mechanical engineering problems.
• Contribute to concept development within cross‑functional design teams, including prototyping, production, and test support.
• Perform detailed design of mechanical structures and subsystems using modeling, analysis, drafting, and tolerance studies.
• Prepare engineering drawings, specifications, design presentations, test plans and test reports.
• Support proposal activity, providing input to cost estimates and risk assessments.
• Brief peers, management, and customers on design considerations and program status.
• Prepare and/or manage design change documentation via Engineering Change Notices/Proposals.
