Job summary

Daytona State College seeks a Student Employment Lab Assistant to support biology, microbiology, anatomy, and chemistry laboratories. Duties include preparation, cleanup, equipment maintenance, and inventory management. The position is restricted to students enrolled in at least 6 credits and meeting SAP or maintaining a 2.0 GPA.

Work is on campus, with hours up to 20 per week, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., flexible.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in at least 6 credits.
• Must currently be meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP), or a minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA.
• Transient and Dual Enrollment students are ineligible for student employment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with biology, microbiology, anatomy, and chemistry laboratory preparation and setup
• Clean glassware, microscopes, and other laboratory equipment
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe laboratory work areas
• Assist with preparing and organizing laboratory materials, models, slides, specimens, and chemicals
• Help maintain inventory supplies and proper use of safety and first aid equipment
• Report any biology, microbiology, anatomy, or chemistry lab-related issues to the lab manager
• Keep classrooms and laboratory preparation areas clean and organized

• Must possess strong computer skills (email, Word, Excel, etc.) and be self-motivated
