Partner Company in the United States is seeking a Software Engineer specializing in Software Defined Networking (SDN). The role involves assessing a complex SDN codebase, strengthening architecture and security, and establishing a reliable software baseline for long-term sustainment.

You will work hands-on with source code, build systems, testing frameworks, and open-source integrations while collaborating with government stakeholders and platform engineers to ensure secure, scalable delivery.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with ownership of production or legacy codebases.
• Strong proficiency in C++, Python, and Bash scripting.
• Strong Linux fundamentals and networking knowledge.
• Experience with secure software development and vulnerability remediation.
• Strong testing discipline across multiple testing types.
• Familiarity with containers, CI/CD, registries, and modern release practices.
• Excellent communication and technical documentation skills.
• U.S. citizenship and an active U.S. Government Secret security clearance or higher.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical assessment of an SDN codebase including architecture and test coverage.
• Design and implement secure, maintainable changes with traceability to upstream/open-source components.
• Develop unit, integration, end-to-end, regression, and failure-mode tests.
• Implement AI-enabled tooling to support hardening and maintenance of the SDN app.
• Diagnose issues across app, Linux, and network boundaries including traffic and routing.
• Partner with platform teams on containers, CI/CD, deployment workflows, and security scanning.
• Support laboratory validation, demonstrations, and release acceptance.
• Contribute to architecture reviews and communicate trade-offs to stakeholders.
• Produce technical docs, assessments, and runbooks for sustainment.
• Mentor engineers and evolve engineering practices.
