Job summary

PathAI in Boston, MA is seeking a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to join the Engineering team. You will design and maintain automated test suites across UI, API, and integration layers, and participate in code reviews to raise quality.

You will work with engineers and product stakeholders to translate features into test plans, perform manual testing when needed, and investigate failures across frontend, backend, and infra layers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or closely related field.
• 1–2 years of hands-on experience writing and maintaining automated tests using frameworks like Playwright or Cypress.
• Proficiency in Python or TypeScript with clean, readable coding style.
• Experience performing code reviews and providing actionable feedback.
• Demonstrated debugging skills across frontend, backend, and infrastructure layers.
• Familiarity with AWS services (EC2, S3, ECS, Lambda) and containerized environments.
• Knowledge of Kubernetes for deploying and observing services in test/staging environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain automated test suites across UI, API, and integration layers.
• Participate in code reviews to raise quality and share feedback.
• Translate new feature requirements into comprehensive test plans and cases.
• Perform manual testing as needed to support verification and UAT.
• Investigate and debug test failures, incidents, and flaky tests; report findings clearly.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines to run automated tests on every build.
• Assist in building/maintaining cloud test infra (AWS, Kubernetes) to scale tests.
• Document test strategies, coverage gaps, and known issues for the team.
