Job summary

Steampunk is seeking a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to join our growing DevSecOps practice. You will deliver QA services across applications, cloud, and data systems in an Agile environment, focusing on test automation and security testing.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years of QA/test automation experience, proficiency with Git, Docker, Kubernetes, and modern testing tools, and the ability to obtain a U.S. government security clearance.

Qualifications

• Requires ability to obtain U.S. government security clearance.
• Bachelors Degree and 10 years of experience (7 must be relevant).
• 3+ years with Git SCM providers like GitHub, GitLab, or Bitbucket.
• 3+ years of programming or scripting language experience.
• 7+ years of DevSecOps experience in Agile environments with active development.
• Experience with Docker containers and Kubernetes platforms.
• 3+ years implementing test automation with Selenium, Appium, SoapUI, RestAssured, or Postman.
• Experience integrating test automation into CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with performance and load testing.
• Experience with one or more cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Preferred certifications listed: CAST, ISTQB, cloud certs.

Responsibilities

• Understand stakeholders' needs and communicate requirements to development teams.
• Collaborate with product design to determine testing parameters and acceptance criteria.
• Write test plans, create test cases, develop procedures, document bugs and QA reports.
• Manage test data architecture and coordinate data requests.
• Develop automated tests with parallelization and idempotency in mind.
• Integrate test automation for performance, security, and functional tests into CI/CD.
• Execute tests and analyze results for code quality.
• Mentor junior team members and share cross-training across DevOps.
