Job summary

Xona is seeking a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to craft production-grade test code in C++ and Python, validating complex navigation logic within distributed cloud and edge systems. You will write unit/integration tests, build deterministic test harnesses, and ensure robust interop between C++ and Python components, collaborating closely with developers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of professional experience as an SDET, QA Engineer or Software Engineer with a primary focus on automated test development.
• Strong C++ proficiency: hands-on experience writing unit/integration tests, mocking components, and working with complex logic.
• Strong Python proficiency: experience building integration test suites and using Pytest in Git-based workflows.
• CI/CD integration experience.
• Distributed systems testing experience in cloud/hybrid environments.
• Code coverage tooling experience (gcov/lcov, Bazel coverage).
• Proven ability to write clean, maintainable, modular test code.

Responsibilities

• Develop production-grade test code: architect, write, and maintain C++ unit/integration tests and Python integration tests.
• Execute integration and E2E testing with live or staged AWS resources and Kubernetes environments.
• Build deterministic test harnesses and mocks for edge cases without live production reliance.
• Validate C++/Python interop and data transfer between components.
• Integrate with build and CI tools (Bazel, GitLab CI/CD) to ensure deterministic test execution.
• Monitor and improve code coverage and quality gates.
• Lead root-cause analysis for non-deterministic test failures and fix underlying issues.
