Job summary

Xona is seeking a Software Development Engineer In Test (SDET) in Burlingame, CA to build robust test frameworks for cloud and edge software. You will write production-grade Python and C++ test code for core components in distributed systems.

You will collaborate with engineers to create deterministic test harnesses, validate C++/Python interop, and ensure coverage with Bazel, gcov/lcov, and CI pipelines in AWS/Kubernetes environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or equivalent.
• 3+ years of experience as an SDET/QA or Software Engineer focused on automated test development.
• Strong C++ proficiency for unit/integration tests and mocks.
• Strong Python proficiency for integration tests with Pytest.
• CI/CD pipeline configuration and management experience.
• Experience testing distributed cloud and edge systems.
• Experience with code coverage tooling (gcov, lcov) and Bazel.

Responsibilities

• Develop production-grade C++ unit/integration test suites and Python integration tests for end-to-end workflows.
• Execute integration and E2E testing with live or staged AWS resources and Kubernetes environments.
• Build deterministic test harnesses and mocks (Catch2, Pytest) to test edge cases without live production.
• Validate C++/Python interop across binding layers to ensure smooth data transfer.
• Integrate with Bazel test targets and GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
• Measure, track, and improve code coverage with gcov/lcov and Bazel coverage.
• Lead root-cause analysis of non-deterministic test failures with developers.
