Job summary

Amazon.com Services LLC in Seattle, WA is seeking a Software Development Engineer II to help migrate legacy HEX/Honeycomb hosting to AWS-native infrastructure and to develop CDK constructs that underpin Stores compute platforms.

You will design highly distributed systems, build automation to boost developer productivity, participate in on-call rotations, and collaborate with partners to minimize disruption while improving reliability and cost efficiency across Amazon services.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of design or architecture experience for large-scale systems.
• 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience.

Responsibilities

• Design and build highly distributed systems and customer-friendly tools that enable migration from HEX/Honeycomb to AWS-native solutions.
• Develop infrastructure CDK constructs that serve as the foundation for the Stores compute platform.
• Build automation to improve operations, maintenance, and developer productivity for HEX platform customers.
• Identify and implement solutions to detect and prevent outages, improving reliability and operational excellence.
• Provide operational support for HEX services, including troubleshooting complex distributed systems issues.
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners to gather requirements and drive migrations with minimal disruption.
• Contribute to team’s technical vision and architecture balancing immediate needs with long-term goals.
• Participate in on-call rotations and maintain health metrics for services.
