Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Software Development Engineer II for ORCA in Seattle to design, build, test, and operate a tier-1 orchestration platform. You will create AI-assisted capabilities, enable safe AI agent interactions, and ensure reliability across a multi-tenant system.

You’ll collaborate with product, security, and architecture teams, participate in reviews, and drive scalable solutions for complex workflows at Amazon scale.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 2+ years of design or architecture experience for large-scale systems
• 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
• 1+ years designing and developing large-scale distributed software applications
• Bachelor's degree in CS, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field
• Experience programming in at least one software language

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, deploy, and operate scalable features for ORCA’s tier-1 orchestration platform.
• Build AI-assisted capabilities that help developers design, test, troubleshoot, and operate workflows.
• Design reliable distributed systems handling workflow execution, scheduling, retries, throttling, scalability, and observability.
• Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and technical planning with senior engineers.
• Collaborate with product, security, architecture, and customer teams to deliver simple, scalable solutions.
• Help shape patterns for workflows, business capabilities, and AI agents at Amazon scale.
