Scrum Master - Agile Transformation Environment
Location: Arlington, TX | Onsite Monday-Friday
Compensation: $120,000-$135,000 Base Salary + Annual Bonus
This Corporate is seeking an experienced, hands-on Scrum Master to support a high-performing, rapidly growing technology organization focused on developing and delivering scalable backend software services. These services power customer-facing web and mobile applications, making reliable delivery, effective testing, technical coordination, and cross-team collaboration critical to success. This role is ideal for a Scrum Master who is passionate about Agile as both a framework and a mindset, understands the realities of software product development, and can help teams deliver value in a fast-paced, evolving environment. The successful candidate will work closely with software engineers, product management, quality assurance, technology leaders, and dependent teams to improve delivery predictability, manage competing priorities, remove impediments, and strengthen Agile practices. The organization is undergoing significant digital transformation and continuing to evolve its Agile operating model. The Scrum Master will have the opportunity to influence how teams work, coach individuals and stakeholders, and help establish effective delivery practices as the organization scales. This is a hands-on leadership role, not simply a meeting facilitation or project administration position. The ideal candidate combines strong Scrum fundamentals with practical technical understanding, sound judgment, emotional intelligence, and the confidence to guide teams through complex challenges and changing priorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Agile Facilitation and Team Leadership Facilitate Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, retrospectives, and backlog refinement. Establish clear sprint goals, realistic commitments, shared accountability, and effective working agreements. Promote self-management, collaboration, transparency, and continuous improvement. Identify and address ineffective meetings, unclear ownership, excessive work in progress, and recurring team challenges. Foster constructive communication, conflict resolution, and a culture of continuous learning.
- Delivery Management and Execution Partner with Product Managers and Product Owners to clarify requirements, improve backlog readiness, and align priorities with business objectives. Monitor sprint progress, manage competing priorities, and identify delivery risks early. Help teams balance urgent requests, technical work, dependencies, and planned commitments. Coordinate testing, release planning, and delivery readiness across engineering, QA, product, and stakeholders. Promote realistic planning, sustainable delivery, quality, and business value rather than focusing solely on velocity.
- Cross-Team Collaboration and Dependency Management Coordinate dependencies across Scrum Masters, engineering teams, product stakeholders, and technology leaders. Identify blockers, integration challenges, and delivery risks before they affect timelines or dependent applications. Facilitate prioritization and sequencing of shared backend services and competing demands. Communicate delivery impacts, clarify ownership, and drive resolution of cross-team impediments. Maintain alignment without creating unnecessary meetings or administrative overhead.
- Agile Coaching and Continuous Improvement Coach team members, product stakeholders, and technology leaders on Scrum principles, Agile values, and effective delivery practices. Adapt Agile practices to team maturity, technical context, and business priorities. Use retrospectives, team feedback, and delivery metrics to identify root causes and implement measurable improvements. Help teams navigate organizational change, evolving responsibilities, and inconsistent processes. Share effective practices and support broader Agile transformation, applying scaled Agile concepts where useful.
- Technical Collaboration and Quality Focus Develop a working understanding of backend services, software architecture, development workflows, testing, and release processes. Partner with engineering and QA to identify technical dependencies, integration risks, testing bottlenecks, and technical debt. Translate technical constraints into clear delivery risks and implications for priorities and timelines. Strengthen coordination between backend teams and the web and mobile application teams that consume their services. Remove organizational and process barriers while respecting engineering and architecture ownership.
- Metrics, Transparency, and Stakeholder Communication Maintain accurate Agile artifacts, delivery dashboards, and reporting to support informed decisions. Monitor sprint goal completion, velocity trends, predictability, work in progress, cycle time, impediment resolution, and carryover work. Use metrics to identify trends and guide improvement rather than measure individual performance in isolation. Communicate delivery status, capacity, risks, dependencies, and improvement opportunities to stakeholders and leadership. Promote data-informed decisions while accounting for team maturity, delivery context, and sustainable performance.
- Organizational Agility and Transformation Help evolve Agile delivery practices, team structures, working agreements, and coordination as the organization grows. Improve workflows, clarify responsibilities, and strengthen accountability and decision-making across teams. Adapt practices to different team needs and levels of Agile maturity. Apply lessons from previous transformations to navigate organizational change and common adoption challenges. Foster experimentation, adaptability, continuous learning, and measurable improvement.
