Job summary

Sierra Medical Center in Reno, NV is seeking a Scrub Tech to assist surgeons during operative and invasive procedures in the OR and Pain Center. You will ensure the operating suite is adequately prepared and sterile, and you will monitor instrument supplies.

The ideal candidate holds a High School diploma, Surgical Technician Certification (within 6 months) or verifiable experience, 3–5 years in a clinical setting, and current BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Minimum High School diploma or equivalent.
• Surgical Technician Certification required (within 6 months of hire) or verifiable hospital surgical tech experience prior to 1/1/2018.
• 3-5 years experience preferred.
• Current BLS Certification.

Responsibilities

• Prepares room in a timely manner with all anticipated instruments, sutures, supplies and equipment for each procedure.
• Accurately completes operating room counts and reports discrepancies.
• Carries out medical/surgical asepsis during treatments/procedures.
• Sets up, scrubs and prepares for procedures at least 15 minutes prior to scheduled time.

This Scrub Tech opportunity is full time at 40 hours per week, offers full benefits and convenient flexiible schedule. This dynamic individual will assist

surgeon during operative and invasive procedures in the Operating Room and Pain Center. Ensures operating suite is adequately prepared for procedure. Monitors PAR level of all surgical instruments and Pain management supplies. Cleans and sterilizes all surgical instruments used in the OR and Pain Center. Participates in departmental staff meetings and performance improvement activities.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

• Prepares room in a timely manner with all anticipated instruments, sutures, supplies and equipment for each individual surgical procedure, or all anticipated endoscopes, instruments, supplies and equipment of each individual procedure
• Accurately completes operating room counts (instruments, sponges, sharps); follows proper procedure in the event of incorrect count; reports all discrepancies to Circulating RN and surgeon and/or corrects immediately
• Carries out medical/surgical asepsis during treatments/procedures
• Sets up, scrubs and prepares for procedures at least 15 minutes prior to scheduled time, unless otherwise directed by Circulating RN, Charge Nurse or Director.
