Job summary

Moore County Hospital District in Dumas, TX, seeks an experienced scrub nurse to join our perioperative team. Under the direction of the Surgery Nurse Director, you will assist physicians during procedures, anticipate needs, hand instruments, and maintain a sterile operating room for adult and pediatric patients.

The role emphasizes teamwork, clear communication with the Charge Nurse, and delivering high-quality patient care across the surgical suite.

Qualifications

• Active RN or LVN license.
• Certified Surgical Technician certification or on-the-job scrub nurse training.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care by assisting the Physician/Surgeon and Charge Nurse.
• Assist surgeons during invasive and non-invasive procedures and hand instruments.
• Prepare and organize the operating room and maintain sterile environment.
• Communicate patient condition to Charge Nurse and staff, escalating as needed.

SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Surgery Nurse Director. Provides direct patient care by assisting the Physician/Surgeon and Charge Nurse with patients. Assists surgeons during invasive and non-invasive procedures, anticipates surgeon’s needs, and hands surgical instruments to surgeon. The scrub nurse prepares and organizes the operating room, cleans and sterilizes equipment, and maintains a sterile surgical environment. The scrub nurse also provides high-quality care to both adult and pediatric patients. Communicates with Charge Nurse and staff about the patient’s condition and responds quickly and request assistance when changes occur in the care of the patient. Additional duties may be required as needed.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Active RN or LVN license. Certified Surgical Technician certification or on-the-job scrub nurse training by qualified personnel.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

One year of perioperative experience.

LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Active RN or LVN license, BLS, (ACLS and PALS upon hire) certifications.
