Job summary

Radius Recycling, Inc. is seeking a Scale Operator to weigh and grade incoming scrap, operate in-bound and out-bound scales, and direct customers for unloading.

The role focuses on accurate pricing communication with customers and production crews, while ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards. Successful candidates will have knowledge of ISRI grading, strong customer service, and the ability to coordinate documentation and payments efficiently in a fast-paced yard

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred; 3–5 years in scrap or similar role preferred.
• Ability to build constructive and cooperative relationships with customers and employees.
• Math and problem solving skills, basic negotiation, attention to detail, and basic typing skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist current and potential customers with questions regarding pricing and material types, and maintain account contacts for regular service.
• Coordinate with office personnel to ensure accurate and timely documentation of all purchasing transactions.
• Conduct scale operations and evaluate incoming products: identify contents, weigh, and direct unloading.
• Operate outgoing scale: identify commodity codes and compute ticket totals for payment.
