Job summary

EMR Group is seeking an Equipment Operator to operate a variety of heavy machinery and manage scrap metal in our yard. You will be responsible for loading, unloading, sorting, and transporting materials while maintaining a safe and organized work environment.

Ideal candidates will have strong safety awareness, the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and good reading and writing skills. This is a hands-on, full-time on-site role with growth opportunities in a stable team setting.

Qualifications

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to safety and detail.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds frequently.
• Ability to read, write, and follow instructions.
• Comfortable climbing in and around heavy equipment for inspection and operation.
• Strong time management and task prioritization skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and company safety standards.
• Load, unload, move, and sort various grades of scrap metal.
• Perform daily equipment inspections and routine maintenance (fueling, lubricating, cleaning).
• Complete daily inspection reports and notify maintenance of any equipment issues.
• Assist with traffic flow to ensure materials are unloaded in the correct locations.
• Report load inspections and contaminants to the Load Inspector and Scale Operator.
• Complete required paperwork accurately and on time.
• Maintain equipment and job site cleanliness, including power washing as needed.
• Meet productivity and production goals.
• Follow all safety rules and regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
