Job summary

SA Recycling is seeking an Equipment Operator to safely operate heavy equipment to load and unload scrap metal and materials in the recycling yard.

The role works outside in varying weather, with standard hours 7:30 am–4:00 pm Monday–Friday and 7:30–11:30 am Saturdays. The company offers competitive pay, medical plans with dental/vision/Life, 401k with match, weekly pay, and advancement opportunities.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of experience operating hydraulic crane and wheeled bucket loader; scrap metal or construction experience preferred.
• Bi-lingual English/Spanish a plus.
• Ability to carry out written or oral instructions.
• Ability to learn new tasks as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment to load and unload scrap metal and debris for processing or shipping.
• Determine load weights and verify against lifting capacities to prevent overloads or dangerous situations.
• Identify and grade inbound scrap and reject unacceptable items.
• Drain and remove fluids and gases from autos, refrigerators, air conditioners, etc.
• Direct truck drivers into proper position for loading and unloading of scrap metal or other materials.
• Perform daily equipment inspections and report concerns, defects or needed repairs to supervisor.
• Comply with all SA Recycling safety, health, and environmental rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
