Job summary

SA Recycling seeks a dependable Equipment Operator to safely manage heavy equipment for loading and unloading scrap metal and materials in our outdoor yard.

You will assess load weights, identify scrap quality, and direct trucks for efficient operations while adhering to safety standards and environmental rules. Bi-lingual English/Spanish is a plus, and prior crane/bucket loader experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED Certification, or equivalent work experience.
• 1-year experience operating a hydraulic crane and wheeled bucket loader; construction or scrap metal industries preferred.
• Bi-lingual (English and Spanish) a plus.
• Ability to follow written or oral instructions and learn new tasks.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment to load and unload scrap metal and debris.
• Determine load weights and verify lifting capacities to prevent overloads.
• Identify, grade, and sort inbound scrap and reject unacceptable items.
• Drain and remove fluids and gases from autos, refrigerators, etc.
• Direct truck drivers into loading/unloading positions.
• Perform daily equipment inspections and report issues to supervisor.
• Comply with SA Recycling safety, health, and environmental rules.
