Job summary

Gerdau North America is seeking a Mobile Equipment Operator in Charlottesville to manage scrap operations using heavy machinery such as hydraulic grapples and loaders. You will unload, weigh, and feed scrap into processing equipment, and maintain safe, efficient workflow.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Operate mobile equipment including hydraulic grapple crane, magnet crane, front end loader and other machinery used in scrap operations.
• Unload scrap material from incoming sources and load onto processing equipment; weigh and record weight and location.
• Inspect scrap for non-conforming material to ensure safety and quality.
• Sort scrap by grade to maintain organized inventory of piles.
• Monitor conveyors and equipment; communicate problems to responsible personnel.
• Perform routine equipment care such as lubrication, greasing, fueling and cleaning.
