Job summary

Qualifications

• Must pass a medical physical and drug test
• Must pass a background check
• Preferred – high school diploma or GED and/or foreign education acceptable
• Bi-lingual (English & Spanish) language skills a plus
• Ability to: communicate with others effectively; understand direction (written or oral) and use basic math skills as the job demands
• Willingness to learn how to: sort metal, identify colors, shapes, and weights; properly maintain equipment; properly utilize PPE

Responsibilities

• Unload pallets, boxes, and bundles
• Handle, sort, and move materials—pushing, pulling, picking, lifting, carrying, and filling up hoppers, boxes, and conveyor belts
• Unpack boxes using box cutters; separate plastics, zip ties, blister packs, and other packaging materials
• Disassemble small equipment; cut wires; torque pipe fittings; remove bolts; disassemble automobile parts and appliance parts
• Operate recycling equipment for processing metal products (metal shears, band saw, wire strippers)
• Direct traffic of yard vehicles
• Perform light facility maintenance (painting, scraping, moving furniture and equipment)
• Maintain machinery by pulling and installing parts; assist repairs with other employees
• Housekeeping—sweep, clean, shoveling, debris collection
• Moderate to periodic landscaping
• Clean up work area at end of shift; keep areas neat and orderly
• Ensure regular attendance and punctuality; organize materials for space efficiency
• Dispose of waste materials properly; inspect to ensure cleanup is complete
• Maintain safety and hygiene in the workplace for all team members
