Job summary

Phoenix Global, LLC in Fort Smith, AR is seeking a Scrap Cutter to operate front loaders, excavators, and torch cutting equipment on-site. The role requires loading, extracting and transporting materials including steel scrap.

You will observe safety regulations, perform routine inspections, and maintain equipment while supporting team operations. Must have valid driver’s license and be able to work varying shifts.

Qualifications

• Experience operating metal cutting systems and heavy machinery.
• Ability to stand 10–12 hours and lift up to 40 lbs.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to work flexible hours/shift work.

Responsibilities

• Operate on-site heavy equipment including front loaders and excavators.
• Load, extract and transport materials such as steel scrap.
• Cut scrap using hand and track torch as required.
• Observe safety, environmental regulations and perform routine inspections.
• Maintain equipment and report defects to supervisor.
• Regulate natural gas and oxygen and operate burning station.
• Support and improve overall team operations.

REPORTS TO: Site Manager

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Perform on-site heavy equipment operations which involves positioning and moving front loaders and excavators
• Loading, extracting and transporting materials including steel scrap
• Use of hand and track torch to cut scrap into appropriate lengths
• Observing relevant safety, accident prevention, and environmental regulations
• Perform routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refer defects or repairs to supervisor, clean equipment
• Maintain and protect all property
• Maintain all required certifications required by OSHA and company safety programs
• Perform any other tasks assigned to support and improve the overall team operations
• Regulate natural gas and oxygen
• Operate a burning station
• Operate torch to cut ingots

REQUIRED SKILLS

• Demonstrated experience in operating metal cutting systems, front loaders, excavators, skid loaders, etc.
• Able to stand for 10 or 12 hour shift
• Must be able to work in varying natural elements
• Able to lift up to 40lbs
• Experience with and knowledge of technical equipment and machinery
• Results orientated/Strong work ethic
• Must work flexible hours and shift work
• Well-developed interpersonal skills – ability to get along with diverse personalities
• Must possess Valid Driver’s License
