Job summary

City of Meridian is seeking a scorekeeper for adult sports programs to ensure accurate game timing and score reporting. You will set up facilities, monitor equipment, and communicate with league managers to uphold league rules.

This role requires working evenings and some weekends, with duties including logging scores, maintaining logs, and keeping facilities secure after events. CPR/First Aid is a plus but not required.

Qualifications

• Must be 16 years of age.
• Working knowledge of softball rules and proper time-keeping procedures.
• Visual acuity to read officials' hand signals.

Responsibilities

• Set up facility for sports events; locks and unlocks recreation facilities.
• Perform minor field/gym maintenance on a nightly basis.
• Perform field and facility inspections.
• Record score and times of games.
• Check scoreboard and game clock equipment before each game.
• Notify officials of any equipment problems.
• Report accidents using approved forms; keep hand‑written log of scores.
• Communicate with league managers and enforce league rules.
• Report league scores and standings to Adult Sports Coordinator.
• Display an attitude of cooperation and ability to work well with others.
• Resolve conflict among participants.
• Monitor sports rosters for illegal players.
• Enforce city ordinances such as dogs on leashes and alcohol policy.
• Perform other related duties as assigned or needed.
• Communicate with management, co‑workers, and general public with respect and in a pleasant, courteous manner.
