Job summary

City of Meridian is seeking a part-time Scorekeeper to support adult sports programs. You will set up facilities, lock/unlock venues, and perform minor maintenance nightly while recording scores and times, and ensuring equipment works before each game.

You will communicate with league managers, enforce league rules, and monitor rosters for illegitimate players, with a focus on safety and respectful interactions with the public.

Qualifications

• Must be 16 years of age.
• Working knowledge of the rules of softball and proper time keeping procedures.
• Visual acuity to read officials hand signals.
• CPR and First Aid certified highly desired, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Set up facility for sports events.
• Locks and unlocks recreation facilities.
• Performs minor field/gym maintenance on a nightly basis.
• Performs field and facility inspections.
• Records score and times of games; checks scoreboard & game clock equipment before each game.
• Notifies officials of any equipment problems; reports accidents using approved forms.
• Keeps hand-written log of the score of each game and communicates with League managers.
• Enforces league rules and reports league scores and standings to Adult Sports Coordinator.
• Monitors rosters for illegal players; enforces city ordinances (dogs on leashes, alcohol policy).
• Perform other related duties as assigned or needed.
