Job summary

H Mart is seeking a SCM Buyer Specialist to source, negotiate, and manage procurement of trending products for distribution across H Mart locations. You will optimize profitability through vendor management and data-driven decisions in SAP.

The role requires 1–3 years in purchasing/SCM, proficiency with SAP and Excel, and a proactive approach to market trends. This on-site position offers comprehensive benefits and a 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM workday.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, SCM, Logistics, or related field.
• 1-3 years of purchasing/procurement/SCM experience.
• Proficiency in SAP (Item Master, PO creation) preferred.
• Advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP) for data analysis.
• Detail-oriented with strong negotiation and trend spotting.

Responsibilities

• Lead negotiations with vendors on availability, specifications, logistics, deadlines, and pricing to optimize COGS.
• Evaluate suppliers based on quality, pricing, compliance, and shipping reliability.
• Identify and purchase new, trending items to keep H Mart competitive.
• Perform market analysis and competitive shopping to stay ahead of trends.
• Analyze sales data to identify the next big hit and coordinate marketing for new arrivals.
• Address inventory or product issues reported from stores.
• Generate daily/weekly sales reports to monitor warehouse profitability.
• Maintain Item Master Data in SAP with descriptions, UPCs, and pricing.
• Identify slow-moving items and implement turnover-improvement strategies.

Job description

The SCM Buyer Specialist is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and managing the procurement of trending products to be distributed across H Mart locations. This role focuses on maximizing warehouse-level profitability through strategic vendor management, market trend analysis, and meticulous data management within the SAP system.

Responsibilities but not limited to:

• Lead negotiations with vendors regarding product availability, specifications, distribution logistics, deadlines, and pricing to ensure optimal COGS (Cost of Goods Sold)
• Continuously evaluate existing and potential suppliers based on product quality, pricing competitiveness, documentation compliance, and shipping reliability
• Identify and purchase new, trending items to maintain H Mart’s competitive edge in the market
• Perform regular market analysis and competitive shopping to stay ahead of consumer trends
• Analyze sales trends to identify "the next big hit" and coordinate marketing efforts for new arrivals
• Investigate and provide timely responses to inventory or product issues reported from the field/stores
• Generate and review daily/weekly sales reports to monitor performance and profitability at the warehouse level
• Create and maintain accurate Item Master Data in SAP, including Item Descriptions, Scan Codes (UPC), and pricing
• Analyze data to identify slow-moving items and implement strategies to improve warehouse turnover

Qualifications / Skills:

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field
• 1-3 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or SCM (preferably in the retail or food industry)
• Proficiency in SAP (Item Master, PO creation) is highly preferred
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP) for data analysis
• Detail-oriented, strong negotiation skills, and a proactive mindset for trend spotting
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Korean is often preferred for vendor communication
