Job summary

GenScript USA Inc. is seeking a skilled Protein Purification Associate Scientist to join the US Protein Department in New Jersey. The role focuses on downstream processing, protein purification, characterization, and meticulous documentation.

The ideal candidate has a BS/MS in molecular biology/biochemistry and hands-on purification experience, familiarity with AKTA systems, and a collaborative, detail‑oriented mindset to support cross‑functional teams.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Molecular Biology/Biochemistry or related field with 1+ years of protein purification/characterization experience.
• Hands-on experience with protein purification techniques in lab or manufacturing.
• Familiarity with AKTA systems and chromatography software is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform protein purification using chromatography techniques (affinity, ion exchange, size exclusion, hydrophobic interaction).
• Prepare buffers and reagents according to SOPs and project protocols.
• Characterize protein products using SDS-PAGE, Western Blot, HPLC, UV spectroscopy, BCA assays.
• Maintain accurate, complete, and timely documentation of procedures and results.
• Troubleshoot and optimize purification protocols to improve yield and purity.
• Collaborate with upstream, analytical, and quality teams to meet project timelines and specs.
• Assist in updating SOPs, batch records, and technical reports.
• Support additional tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Protein Purification Associate Scientist to join our US Protein Department. This role involves executing downstream processing activities including protein purification, characterization, and documentation. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in biochemistry, biotechnology, or a related field, along with hands-on experience in protein purification techniques in a laboratory or manufacturing setting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform protein purification using a variety of chromatography techniques such as affinity, ion exchange, size exclusion, and hydrophobic interaction.
• Prepare buffers and reagents following SOPs and project-specific protocols.
• Characterize protein products using SDS-PAGE, Western Blot, HPLC, UV spectroscopy, BCA assay, and other analytical methods.
• Maintain accurate , complete, and timely documentation of experimental procedures and results.
• Troubleshoot and optimize purification protocols as needed to improve yield and purity.
• Collaborate closely with upstream, analytical, and quality teams to ensure project timelines and specifications are met.
• Assist in the revision and creation of SOPs, batch records, and technical reports.
• Support additional tasks and projects as assigned by the department supervisor.

Qualifications:

• BS/MS in Molecular Biology, Cellular Biology, Biochemistry or related field with 1+ years of relevant experience in protein purification/characterization.
• Familiarity with AKTA systems and chromatography software is a strong plus.
• Strong organizational and documentation skills, with attention to detail and data integrity.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
• Experience in a CRO or CDMO setting is preferred.
