Job summary

The Division of Animal Sciences at the University of Missouri is seeking a Scientist Lead to direct genome engineering initiatives within the Telugu Laboratory, developing genetically engineered porcine and murine models for agricultural and biomedical applications.

You will lead CRISPR/Cas genome editing, establish cellular engineering capabilities, and mentor a diverse team of researchers, technicians, and graduate students in a collaborative, high-performance environment.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a related field with at least 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Additional degrees and licensures as required by state/federal laws.
  • Ph.D. in Reproductive Biology, Genetics, Animal Science, or related disciplines preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Direct genome editing programs in pigs and murine models using CRISPR/Cas technologies.
  • Establish and oversee cellular engineering operations within a growing research laboratory.
  • Mentor and supervise a multidisciplinary research team.
  • Collaborate with researchers, students, and technical staff to advance genetic engineering projects.
  • Develop animal models that support breakthroughs in agriculture and human health.

Job Description

The Division of Animal Sciences at the University of Missouri is seeking an innovative and highly motivated Scientist Lead to direct genome engineering initiatives within the Telugu Laboratory. This position offers an exciting opportunity to lead cutting-edge research focused on developing genetically engineered porcine and murine models for agricultural and biomedical applications.

As a scientific leader, you will drive research efforts utilizing CRISPR/Cas genome editing technologies, establish and oversee cellular engineering capabilities, and mentor a multidisciplinary team of research assistants, technicians, and graduate students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead genome editing programs in pigs and murine models using CRISPR/Cas technologies.
  • Establish and oversee cellular engineering operations within a growing research laboratory.
  • Collaborate with researchers, students, and technical staff to advance innovative genetic engineering projects.
  • Contribute to the development of animal models that support breakthroughs in agriculture and human health.
  • Mentor and supervise research personnel while fostering a collaborative and high-performing scientific environment.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Shift

Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Others as needed

Minimum Qualifications

A Master's degree in related/ relevant area and at least 4 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary. Additional degree and licensures as required by state/federal laws.

Preferred Qualifications

Ph.D. in Reproductive Biology, Genetics, Animal Science, or related disciplines preferred. Experience/proficiency in livestock embryo culture, embryo injections and embryo transfers.

Anticipated Hiring Range

The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $70,512.00 - $137,696.00 per year

Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
