Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced and highly analytical Scientist III to join our multidisciplinary defense researchand engineering team in Crane, Indiana. This mid-to-senior level role focuses on conducting advancedscientific research, experimental design, and data modeling to support naval warfare systems, strategicelectronics, and sensor technologies. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between theoreticalphysics/chemistry and applied defense applications, transforming complex scientific discoveries intomission-critical engineering solutions

Requirements

Required Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Chemistry, Material Science, Electrical Engineering, or a closelyrelated scientific discipline.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 to 8 years of post-graduate professional research experience, preferably withinaerospace, defense, or national laboratory environments (Master's or Ph.D. counts toward experience).
• Security Clearance: Active DoD Secret security clearance with the clear ability to obtain and maintain aTS/SCI clearance.
• Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated expertise in data acquisition systems, precision laboratoryinstrumentation, and mathematical modeling software.
• Analytical Mindset: Strong background in statistical error analysis, experimental design framework, androot-cause analysis.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Physics, Applied Physics, or Material Science.
• Prior experience working with Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Crane divisions or similar militaryresearch entities.
• Familiarity with semiconductor physics, microelectronics radiation effects, or electro-optical / infrared (EO/IR)sensor systems.
• Proficiency in automating laboratory instruments and developing custom analysis pipelines via Python orLabVIEW
