Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or Life Sciences with 2+ years experience
  • Master's degree in Chemistry or related field with no additional experience required
  • Proficiency in wet-lab techniques incl. cell culture where applicable
  • Theoretical/practical knowledge of chromatography and/or mass spectrometry preferred
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine lab tasks independently and generate reliable results
  • Conduct in vitro assays and work with radiolabeled compounds
  • Prepare samples for LC, MS and scintillation analysis
  • Operate LC and MS instruments (Thermo/Sciex)
  • Perform enzyme incubations, sample handling and extractions
  • Optimize lab procedures to improve productivity
  • Modify protocols as needs evolve
  • Apply literature to contextualize data
  • Contribute to Discovery and Development studies
  • Develop proficiency in multiple experimental techniques
  • Apply drug metabolism knowledge to drug discovery and development
  • Support lab management: inventory, safety checks, documentation, compliance with GxP and radioactive handling requirements

Job description

Now Hiring: Scientist II - Biotransformation & Disposition

We are seeking a Scientist II to join the Biotransformation & Disposition (B&D) Team within the Quantitative Translation and ADME Sciences organization in Development Sciences.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on scientist to contribute to in vitro and in vivo biotransformation studies, leverage analytical technologies, and support research and development programs.

  • Perform routine laboratory tasks independently and generate reliable, reproducible results
  • Perform in vitro assays and work routinely with radiolabeled compounds
  • Conduct sample preparation for LC, MS, and scintillation analysis
  • Independently operate LC and MS instruments, including Thermo and Sciex platforms
  • Perform enzyme incubations, sample handling, and organic extractions
  • Optimize laboratory procedures and protocols to improve productivity and efficiency
  • Modify protocols as research and development needs evolve
  • Apply scientific literature to place experimental data into the appropriate scientific context
  • Contribute to Discovery and Development studies through hands‑on laboratory activities
  • Develop proficiency in multiple experimental techniques
  • Apply an understanding of drug metabolism and disposition to drug discovery and development

The role also involves laboratory management activities, including sample and consumable inventory, freezer inventory, routine lab safety checks, accurate research documentation, and compliance with applicable GxP, safety, controlled-drug, and radioactive-compound handling requirements.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Life Sciences, or equivalent, with typically 2+ years of experience
  • OR
  • Master's degree or equivalent education with no additional experience required
  • Proficiency in wet-laboratory techniques, including:
  • Cell culture
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge of chromatography and/or mass spectrometry preferred
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
