Mindlance is seeking a Scientist II to join the Biotransformation and Disposition Team within Development Sciences. You will conduct in vitro and in vivo biotransformation studies, leverage LC/MS technologies, and collaborate across Discovery, Development Sciences, and Clinical Pharmacology to deliver precise, reliable results.

The role requires hands-on wet-lab experience, ability to manage day-to-day lab operations, and clear communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry or analytical chemistry with 2+ years of experience or an equivalent master’s degree.
  • Proficiency in wet-laboratory techniques including in vitro enzyme incubations, cell culture, and micro pipetting.
  • Theoretical/practical knowledge of chromatography and/or mass spectrometry is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine tasks competently and independently and generate reliable results.
  • Operate LC and MS instruments to collect data for in vitro and in vivo studies.
  • Prepare samples for analysis (LC, MS, Scintillation) and optimize protocols for productivity.
  • Maintain laboratory safety and inventory, order consumables, and support day-to-day operations.

Job description

We are seeking a Scientist II to join our Biotransformation and Disposition (B&D) Team within the Quantitative Translation and ADME Sciences organization in Development Sciences. This position is an opportunity to join a dynamic team and work on in vitro and in vivo biotransformation studies. This role will leverage cutting‑edge analytical technologies and workflows to solve problems, advance our pipeline and drive pharmaceutical innovation. The candidate will be expected to have strong organizational skills and solid experience in a wet lab environment, including experience in enzyme incubations, in vivo sample handling, and/or organic extractions. Liquid chromatography or mass spectrometry experience is preferred.

This role will work collaboratively with multiple teams within Discovery, Development Sciences and the Clinical Pharmacology organizations to perform analyses and implement technologies to deliver precise, reliable, and reproducible solutions. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential for effectively partnering with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to clearly communicate results. A successful candidate will also possess the ability to manage day-to-day laboratory operations such as inventorying samples and ordering consumables.

Responsibilities:

Perform routine tasks competently and independently and generate reliable and consistent results.

  • Lab based position in a high functioning analytical laboratory.
  • Ability to perform in vitro assays and routinely work with radio labeled compounds.
  • Optimize procedures and protocols to enhance productivity and efficiency with input from a more senior scientist.
  • Competently perform all sample preparation for analysis (LC, MS, Scintillation)
  • Independently operate LC and MS instruments to collect data for both Discovery and Development studies across multiple vendor platforms (Thermo, Sciex).

Learn and understand new experimental techniques.

  • Appropriately modify protocols, as required, to suit the changing needs of research or development sciences.
  • Build theoretical and practical knowledge to carry out job function.
  • Place data in proper scientific context by consulting and citing relevant literature.

Demonstrate technical proficiency in his/her field.

  • Impact projects predominantly through lab-based activities.
  • Demonstrate proficiency by learning multiple experimental techniques.
  • General understanding of drug metabolism and disposition in drug discovery and development

Understand and adhere to corporate standards regarding code of conduct, safety, appropriate handling of materials, controlled drug and radioactive compounds, GxP compliance, and animal care where applicable.

  • Keep accurate and current experiments and/or records of research according to policies.

Showing good oral and written communication skills

  • Routinely presents data clearly and thoroughly in both one-on-one and group meetings with clear and precise graphs/charts/ tables.
  • Provide written summary reports as appropriate.
  • Ability to communicate group objectives outside of B&D

Exhibit a strong willingness to learn and contribute as a team player with a positive attitude

  • Learn and share knowledge with colleagues and participate in internal and external presentation opportunities.
  • Actions demonstrate that group/project success benefit everyone.

Manages the laboratory with minimal oversight

  • Conducts routine lab safety checks (flashlights, eyewash, survey meters)
  • Ensures accurate freezer inventory to support sample management
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, analytical chemistry, life sciences, or equivalent education, with typically two or more years of experience or master's degree or equivalent education (no additional experience).
  • Proficiency in wet-laboratory techniques, including in vitro enzyme incubations, cell culture, and micro pipetting.
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge and experience in chromatography and/or mass spectrometry are preferred.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
