Job summary

Astrix Inc. in Fairfield County, CT is seeking a Scientist II (Analytical Science) to independently execute lab research and support development of new therapeutics.

This 1-year contract role involves designing experiments, analyzing data, maintaining lab operations, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and company standards. The ideal candidate holds a Master’s degree with 4+ years of experience (or Bachelor’s with 5+ years), has hands-on wet chemistry and chromatography experience

Qualifications

  • Master's degree with 4+ years of relevant experience or Bachelor's with 5+ years.
  • Plate assays and particle analysis experience required.
  • Experience with wet chemistry: buffers, mobile phases, formulations.
  • Hands-on chromatography with HPLC, SEC, AF4/FFF.
  • Ability to design and interpret experiments independently.
  • Strong data analysis, writing, and presentation skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Knowledge of lab safety, regulatory and quality compliance.
  • Preferred: NMR spectroscopy.
  • Preferred: DLS, FlowCam or similar particle-sizing methods.
  • Preferred: fluorescent labeling, microscopy, image analysis.
  • Preferred: DNA/RNA isolation, PCR, electrophoresis, biophysical characterization.

Responsibilities

  • Execute laboratory studies supporting development of novel therapeutic modalities.
  • Design, perform, and troubleshoot routine and non-routine experiments independently.
  • Build product and process knowledge through experimental research.
  • Prepare buffers, mobile phases, and multi-component formulations using wet chemistry techniques.
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.
  • Perform analytical characterization using HPLC, SEC, AF4/FFF.
  • Collect, analyze, interpret, and present scientific data with integrity.
  • Present research findings to project teams and department meetings.
  • Write and maintain protocols, SOPs, reports and documentation.
  • Conduct literature reviews and apply scientific knowledge to research activities.
  • Support lab organization, reagent tracking and inventory management.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support project objectives.
  • Ensure lab work complies with safety, regulatory, and quality standards.
