Together, we can changelives.

Position:

ImmunEdge has an exciting opportunity for a Scientist specializing in T cell biology to join our Cellular Pharmacology team. We investigate the mechanism of action of antibodies and antibody‑based biologics, while contributing to the screening and development workflows that advance them. This role is well suited to a recently trained PhD scientist ready to take independent ownership of research questions and drive them at the bench from conception through analysis and communication. Strong candidates will pair scientific curiosity and creativity with rigor, collaboration, and a passion for drug development, and will be excited to design experiments, interpret complex data, and help shape the scientific direction of their work in a fast‑moving, early‑stage environment. An extensive, hands‑on background working with primary human immune cells, with particular strength in T cell biology and meaningful exposure to myeloid cells, is essential. Strong command of multicolor and spectral flow cytometry is also important, while experience with tumor biology and 3D model systems is advantageous

Location:

Redwood City, CA

Key Responsibilities:
  • Independently own research questions end to end by designing, executing, optimizing, and troubleshooting in vitro T cell and myeloid functional assays using primary human immune cells and cell lines; integrate findings with broader program data to advance mechanistic understanding and inform program direction.
  • Contribute hands‑on to screening and characterization workflows, including execution of established assays, as program needs require.
  • Communicate findings in internal forums and, as appropriate, external scientific venues.
  • Contribute to IND‑enabling studies through high‑quality data generation, thorough documentation, and report writing.
  • Provide informal mentorship, hands‑on training, technical guidance, and feedback to associate‑level scientists in experimental design, troubleshooting, and data interpretation.
  • Operate effectively in a small, fast‑moving environment where priorities may evolve based on emerging data.
  • Help maintain a safe, compliant, and well‑organized laboratory.
Qualifications:
  • PhD in immunology, cancer biology, molecular and cellular biology, or a related discipline, with a strong record of independent research demonstrated through publications, dissertation work, and/or scientific presentations.
  • 0–3 years of relevant postdoctoral or industry experience (postdoctoral experience welcome but not required).
  • Strong ability to independently design and analyze experiments, develop experimental next steps, and integrate new information to refine or revise hypotheses.
  • Extensive hands‑on expertise isolating and culturing primary human immune cells and maintaining mammalian cell lines.
  • Direct experience developing and executing T cell functional assays, such as activation, proliferation, polarization, or T cell‑dependent cellular cytotoxicity (TDCC), together with meaningful experience in myeloid cell culture or functional assays, such as phagocytosis, antigen presentation, or myeloid cell differentiation and polarization.
  • Proficiency with immunoassay and cellular techniques, including multi‑color and spectral flow cytometry, as well as ELISA and other plate‑based immunoassays.
Nice to have:
  • Experience genetically manipulating primary immune cells and/or cell lines using approaches such as stable transduction, transient transfection, or CRISPR‑mediated gene knockout.
  • Experience in tumor biology or the tumor immune microenvironment, particularly with 3D model systems such as tumor spheroids, organoids, or multicellular co‑cultures.
  • Experience contributing to regulatory submissions (e.g., IND applications).

This is a position that requires working in a laboratory environment with biological and chemical hazards. Protective clothing, gloves, and safety glasses are required while working in the laboratory. This position requires the ability, with or without reasonable accommodation, to lift containers or instruments up to 25 pounds, and work standing at a fume hood or laboratory bench for extended periods.

Expected Salary Range

The good‑faith salary range ImmunEdge reasonably expects to pay for this position is $110,928 - $166,392. Final compensation will be based on a variety of factors, including experience, qualifications, internal equity, and location.
