Job summary

Amgen is seeking a Scientist – Erythroid Biology to design and execute experiments, analyze results, and present study findings. You will help develop human primary cell systems and validate targets related to RNA therapeutics, contributing to IND-enabling programs within cross-functional teams.

The role emphasizes collaboration across Delivery/chemistry, Translational and biomarker groups, with a focus on erythroid biology and hematopoiesis. Competitive benefits and career growth are offered.

Qualifications

  • PhD or equivalent in a relevant biology field.
  • Advanced knowledge in erythroid biology and hematopoiesis preferred.
  • Experience with siRNA/RNA therapeutics is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Design and conduct in vitro and ex vivo assays to evaluate siRNA delivery and function.
  • Develop human primary cell-based systems.
  • Support target validation and mechanism-of-action studies for siRNA therapeutics.
  • Collaborate with Delivery/chemistry, Translational and biomarker teams.
  • Establish and optimize Flow cytometry panels, qPCR/RNA readouts.
  • Contribute to IND-enabling studies and data packages.

Scientist – Erythroid Biology
What you will do

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will. A Scientist at Amgen is responsible for designing and conducting experiments, analyzing results, and interpreting data. They prepare technical reports, summaries, and protocols and present study results at team meetings. They also assist in maintaining lab equipment, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring safety protocols are adhered to.

Responsibilities
  • Design and execute in vitro and ex vivo assays to evaluate siRNA delivery and function
  • Develop human primary cell-based systems
  • Support target validation and mechanism-of-action studies for siRNA therapeutics
  • Collaborate with Delivery/chemistry teams, Translational and biomarker teams
  • Establish and optimize Flow cytometry panels, qPCR / RNA-based readouts
  • Contribute to IND-enabling studies and data packages
Basic Qualifications
  • Doctorate degree
  • Master’s degree and 2 years scientific experience
  • OR
  • Bachelor's degree and 4 years scientific experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with siRNA / RNA therapeutics (delivery or functional assays), Erythroid biology and hematopoiesis.
  • Strong background in Flow cytometry (multi-color), Cell-based functional assays
  • Familiarity with gene expression (qPCR, RNA assays), target engagement assays Experience working in cross-functional drug discovery teams
  • Knowledge on Hemoglobinopathies, conjugated delivery systems, CRISPR or gene editing is a plus
