Bio-Rad Laboratories in Hercules, CA seeks a Scientist TEMP to support their BioEducation Program. You will plan, execute, and troubleshoot experiments, analyze data, and document results as part of a team making science accessible to students.

The role requires graduate-level life science expertise, strong lab skills, and the ability to work with R&D and marketing to drive product development. 26-30 hours per week, temporary 12-month assignment, on-site in California.

Qualifications

  • Master's or PhD in a life science field (biotech, biochem, cell biology, microbiology, immunology, molecular biology) is required.
  • Experience with molecular biology techniques such as DNA extraction, PCR, electrophoresis, plasmid cloning, and sequence analysis.
  • Experience with microbiology techniques including bacterial culturing and sterile technique.
  • Strong analytical and verbal/written communication skills.
  • Ability to think critically, work independently, and take direction when given.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills and high attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare for, execute, and troubleshoot experiments contributing to product development and sustaining projects.
  • Analyze data and document lab work and results in lab notebooks.
  • Meet with R&D and Marketing teams to provide updates and discuss results, obstacles, and next steps.
  • Design and execute well-thought-out experiments.
  • Sustain existing product lines and work with a team developing products for science classrooms.

Scientist TEMP, BioEducation Program

Are you passionate about science? Does solving a problem give you the ultimate sense of satisfaction? Our team develops products designed to spark imagination in students and inspire them to become tomorrow's scientists, problem solvers, and conscientious world citizens. We are currently looking for a Scientist TEMP available immediately to work under the guidance of a R&D team passionate about making science accessible to high school and college students.


What you'll be doing:

Plan, prepare for, execute, and troubleshoot experiments that contribute to product development and sustaining projects that make science come to life for students. Analyze data that is generated. Document lab work and results in lab notebooks. Meet with the R&D and Marketing teams to provide updates and discuss results, technical obstacles, and next steps.

  • Education: Master's degree or PhD in a life science discipline (biotechnology, biochemistry, cell biology, microbiology, immunology, molecular biology preferred)

  • Experience in molecular biology laboratory techniques including DNA extraction, PCR, electrophoresis (DNA and protein), plasmid cloning, sequence analysis

  • Experience with microbiology techniques including bacterial culturing, sterile technique

  • Strong analytical and verbal/written communication skills

  • High attention to detail


Pay Rate: $46.44 - 48.04 / hour
Employment Type: Temporary (12-Month Assignment)
Schedule: Part-Time, 26-30 hours per week; Monday-Friday or Tuesday-Thursday, flexible based on business needs
