Job summary

Genentech in California is seeking a Scientist 3 to execute cutting-edge single-cell and functional genomic techniques to study cancer biology. This hands-on role combines experiments with computational analysis and high-throughput screens to profile cancer models and interrogate molecular mechanisms underlying disease states.

You will deploy new and existing single-cell profiling methods, analyze genomic data, collaborate across departments, and contribute to identifying therapeutic targets.

Qualifications

  • Doctorate degree in a relevant field (molecular/cancer biology, genetics, immunology, systems biology, biochemistry or biomedical engineering).
  • Hands-on experience performing and analyzing single cell CRISPR screens.
  • Experience in analysis of single cell and genomic data using R and/or Python.
  • Strong foundational background in NGS assays and molecular biology techniques.
  • Excellent oral and written presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in parallel and lead research efforts.
  • Preferred: epigenomics experience and cancer biology disease expertise.

Overview

The Department of Cell and Tissue Genomics is seeking a creative, rigorous, and motivated Scientist 3 to execute cutting-edge single-cell and functional genomic techniques to study cancer biology. The successful candidate will perform high-throughput screens, deploy new and existing single cell profiling methods, and analyze genomic data to enable the interrogation of molecular mechanisms underlying disease states and identify candidate targets for therapeutic interventions. This is a hands-on position with both experimental and computational analysis components in collaboration with colleagues across departments.

Responsibilities
  • Perform high-throughput screens in cancer cell lines and models.

  • Leadership: Ability to manage multiple projects in parallel, collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, and lead research projects.
  • Scientific Productivity: Sustained record of productivity in the form of publications and patents.
  • Preferred: Epigenomics experience and cancer biology disease expertise.
Compensation and Benefits

Relocation benefits are available. Salary range for this position, based on the primary location of California, is $103,400 to $192,000. Actual pay is determined by experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and company performance.
