Job summary

Intellectt Inc. in California seeks a Clinical Scientist II to perform and review laboratory testing in a clinical toxicology environment while supporting quality, compliance, documentation, and operations. The role requires a California-licensed CLS with a strong foundation in clinical testing and toxicology.

Experience with mass spectrometry, QC, calibration, and LIMS is preferred. The position emphasizes compliance with California licensing and CLIA requirements and may involve on-site work

Qualifications

• Current California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) license under applicable California requirements as a Generalist, Toxicologist, or Chemist.
• Bachelor's degree in Science.
• Minimum 2 years of toxicology laboratory experience involving mass spectrometry, or 5 years of general clinical laboratory experience with knowledge of toxicology.
• Experience with pipetting and computer systems.
• Ability to learn and use laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
• Knowledge of laboratory testing, quality control, calibration, documentation, and laboratory safety practices.
• Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal formats.
• Ability to work collaboratively and provide appropriate support or coaching to laboratory personnel.

Responsibilities

• Perform approved laboratory tests in accordance with established laboratory procedures and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Review and certify laboratory test results before release, using appropriate scientific judgment.
• Review calibration and quality-control results to verify testing meets specifications.
• Monitor QC performance for shifts and trends and support corrective actions.
• Investigate inconsistent laboratory results and laboratory quality issues and communicate findings to appropriate personnel.
• Support investigations involving specimen handling, analytical testing, production activities, and quality incidents.
• Maintain accurate documentation related to calibration, QC acceptance, equipment maintenance, specimen handling, and result certification.
• Safely handle hazardous materials and follow laboratory safety procedures.
• Report incidents, near misses, and chemical spills promptly.
• Assist with development and approval of laboratory SOPs and protocols.
• Provide training and support to laboratory personnel.
• Support competency-related activities as required by regulations.
• Participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement activities.

Job Summary

• Promptly report applicable incidents, near misses, and chemical spills.
• Assist with the development and approval of laboratory SOPs and protocols.
• Provide training, assistance, and support to applicable laboratory personnel.
• Support competency-related activities as required by applicable regulations and laboratory procedures.
• Participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement activities.
• Follow new and revised laboratory procedures as directed by authorized laboratory leadership.
• Maintain professional knowledge and required training consistent with applicable California licensing and continuing-education requirements.
• Perform applicable technical or supervisory responsibilities in accordance with laboratory regulations, qualifications, and assigned duties.

Required Qualifications

• Work is performed in a laboratory and office environment.
• Ability to move between laboratory and office areas and respond to operational requests as required.
• Ability to follow applicable safety procedures when working with laboratory materials and equipment.
• Ability to perform assigned laboratory testing, documentation, equipment maintenance, and result-review activities consistent with qualifications and applicable regulations.
• Must maintain any professional license, certification, training, or continuing-education requirements applicable to the position.
• Must comply with applicable federal, California, county, and city workplace requirements and client/site policies.
