Job summary

Skill seeks a Science Writer and Social Media Content Creator to join its strategic communications team. Translate complex scientific concepts into engaging narratives for social channels, press materials, and long-form stories that inform and inspire a global audience.

You’ll source multimedia assets, edit for accuracy and style, manage editorial calendars, and track performance metrics while identifying newsworthy content to promote scientific research and the organization’s activities.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years of related experience as a science writer for a news outlet, research organization, or scientific publisher.
• Impeccable writing, editing, and interviewing skills, with a proven ability to craft compelling narratives.
• Distill complex scientific concepts into clear, concise prose for diverse audiences.
• Experience creating multimedia content and using social platforms to communicate about science.
• Knowledge of journalistic standards and ethics.
• Understanding of news values and the scientific process.
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Produce high-quality communications materials, including social media posts and press materials.
• Source or create multimedia assets to accompany content.
• Review and edit written materials for accuracy and style.
• Identify newsworthy scientific content for promotion across platforms.
• Manage social media calendars, create, edit, and post content, monitor engagement.
• Track and report social media performance for continuous improvement.
