Job summary

Ocean County College is seeking a Casual/As-Needed Tutor to support TRIO Student Support Services. The role provides in-person and occasional online tutoring across science subjects, with duties including resource development, visits to classes, and workshops.

You will maintain tutoring records, generate written and Excel reports, and collaborate with Tutoring Center management to ensure high-quality service for underserved student populations. TEFL/TESOL and bilingual abilities are valued.

Qualifications

• Ability to tutor at the 200-course level or above; unofficial transcripts required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; prior database or instructional technology experience preferred.
• Self-motivated with ability to work a mix of remote and onsite tutoring sessions.
• Experience serving underserved populations is preferred.
• TEFL or TESOL Certification is preferred.
• Bilingual or Multilingual abilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide Face-to-Face and virtual tutoring in the identified content areas; develop resources, conduct class visits, and facilitate workshops.
• Maintain records of tutoring sessions and update the database; provide written and Excel reports.
• Meet regularly with Tutoring Center management; document and report student or personnel issues promptly.
• Assist in training and mentoring new professional and peer tutors.
• Attend required training and maintain competency in tutoring materials.
• Maintain content area competency and computer literacy; stay current with technology.
• Monitor equipment and report issues to management in a timely manner.
• Answer phones, greet visitors, perform clerical tasks, and support related projects.
