Job summary

Northampton Community College seeks a part-time Science Tutor for the Pocono Learning Center in Tannersville, PA. Tutors support students in biology, chemistry, and anatomy & physiology, meeting on campus or online, and may tutor multiple disciplines.

CRLA training is provided and certification is expected within one year. The role requires strong interpersonal skills, patience, and a commitment to helping diverse learners succeed.

Qualifications

• Thorough understanding of the subject(s) they will tutor.
• An Associate degree or above in the discipline or a related field from a regionally accredited institution.
• A grade of B or above in each course the candidate intends to tutor.
• Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, strong analytical skills, an interest in working with a diverse population of students, patience, and a genuine desire to help others learn and succeed.
• Previous experience as a peer or professional tutor is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Tutor students in science disciplines including General Biology and/or Chemistry and/or Anatomy & Physiology.
• Meet with students on campus and/or online; may tutor multiple disciplines.
• Participate in CRLA training and aim for certification within one year of employment.
• Attend staff meetings and ongoing professional development activities; maintain complete and accurate records.
• Assist as needed with additional responsibilities.
