Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Adult Correction seeks a Science Teacher at NCCIW in Raleigh to deliver core science content to adult learners aged 18–22 pursuing high school equivalency diplomas. You will use diverse instructional strategies, align lessons to state standards, and support transitions through the correctional education system.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in the teaching area, a valid NC Professional Educator License with science certification, and experience planning

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in the teaching area and NC teaching license with science certification at middle/high school level.
• Current and non-expired NC Professional Educator’s License with certification in science at middle or high school level.
• Experience with instructional planning for groups and individuals; ability to work with at-risk students using diverse instructional practices.

Responsibilities

• Design lessons with clear learning targets, aligned to state standards for students at a wide range of levels.
• Provide direct group and individual instruction in core science content.
• Develop and implement a classroom management plan aligned with school-wide standards.
• Collaborate with school personnel on instructional practices and student progress.
