Job summary

Acceleration Academies in Odessa, TX is seeking a ScienceContent Coach to guide Graduation Candidates through competency-based content and personalized learning. Hybrid work arrangement with onsite at Odessa campus and remote options, candidate must live within commutable distance.

You will support enrollment, develop learning plans, monitor progress, and collaborate with the GC team. The role requires a TX 7-12 science certification, a bachelor's degree, and at least two years of teaching

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred.
  • Texas 7-12 certification in Science/Life Science or Physical Science (REQUIRED).
  • 2+ years of teaching experience (high school preferred).
  • Strong communication, time management, instructional planning, and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support new GC enrollment through recruitment and engagement efforts.
  • Assist with the development of Personalized Learning Plans for GCs.
  • Serve as an advisor, maintaining communication with learners and their support team.
  • Monitor attendance, progress, and wellness to ensure engagement and achievement.
  • Plan and deliver content-area instruction in both individual and small group settings.
  • Monitor academic progress toward course completion and mastery using assessments.
  • Provide remediation and enrichment to address learning gaps and accelerate success.
  • Participate in professional development, data meetings, and school/community events.

The Role

As a ScienceContent Coach, you will serve as the primary instructional resource for our Graduation Candidates (GCs), delivering competency-based content, supporting personalized learning, and guiding students toward graduation and post-secondary success. You’ll work with a collaborative team to provide academic, social-emotional, and career-oriented support that empowers each learner’s journey.

Work Arrangement: This position can be hybrid, with a combination of onsite work at the Ector County Acceleration Academy in Odessa, TX and remote work. Candidates must live within a commutable distance of the Odessa campus.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support new GC enrollment through recruitment and engagement efforts
  • Assist with the development of Personalized Learning Plans for GCs
Retention
  • Serve as an advisor for assigned GCs by maintaining communication with learners and their support team
  • Monitor attendance, academic progress, and overall wellness to ensure consistent engagement and achievement
  • Plan and deliver content-area instruction in both individual and small group settings
  • Monitor GC academic progress toward course completion and mastery using formative and summative assessments
  • Analyze and use academic data to inform instruction and improve outcomes
  • Provide remediation and enrichment opportunities to address learning gaps and accelerate success
  • Participate in professional development, data meetings, and school/community events
Advocacy
  • Collaborate with the GC support team to develop personalized learning pathways, transition strategies, and incentive plans
  • Represent the academy in community events and contribute to academy-wide initiatives
  • Perform other responsibilities as needed to support the academy’s mission
What We’re Looking For

Education: Bachelor’s degree required, Master's preferred

Licensure: Texas7-12 secondary certification in Science/Life Science or Physical Science (REQUIRED)

Experience: 2+ years of teaching experience (high school preferred)

Skills: Strong communication, time management, instructional planning, and collaboration skills

Passion: A deep commitment to helping at‑risk youth succeed academically and personally

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in non-traditional or at-risk youth settings
  • Familiarity with behavior intervention strategies and alternative educational models
  • Experience with competency-based learning, instructional coaching, or project-based education
  • Strong comfort with educational technology tools and platforms
