Job summary

Chicago State University Library seeks a Research & Instruction Librarian, Science, to support science faculty and students through research help, instruction, and liaison activities. This 12-month, tenure-track library faculty position reports to the Chair of Library and Instruction Services.

The successful candidate will build relationships with the Department of Biological Sciences, Computing, Information and Mathematical Sciences & Technology, and Chemistry, Physics, and Engineering Studies.

Qualifications

• MLS or equivalent degree from an ALA-accredited institution.
• Experience with reference and instruction services in academic libraries.
• Ability to lead or participate in library instruction programs and research consultations.
• Familiarity with emerging trends in reference services and library instruction.
• Experience with online resources and information technologies in libraries.

Responsibilities

• Provide general and specialized research assistance in all formats.
• Deliver in-person and virtual reference services and research consultations.
• Lead or contribute to library instruction for undergraduate and graduate courses.
• Engage in outreach and liaison activities to science departments.
• Participate in collection development for natural sciences and related areas.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
